PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A dog found in Wilkinsburg suffering from a severe skin infection is now under "intensive medical care" at Humane Animal Rescue.
The rescue says a Good Samaritan found the dog near Turner Elementary School on Tuesday evening and brought the 8-month-old in for care.
Veterinarians found "Eitan" is suffering from "severe demodectic mange with secondary infections on his legs, abdomen, neck and face."
They say he is in "major pain".
Staff believe Eitan will need ongoing care for at least the next two months and the cost of care could be as much as $10,000.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to Eitan's recovery can do so here.
As of Friday morning, donors have raised over $4,540 dollars for Eitan.
Anyone with any information on Eitan before he was found can call 412-345-7300 ext. 245 or email Investigations@HumaneAnimalRescue.org.
