With the Omicron case count extremely high currently, the talk now with some people is the option of getting COVID-19 to "just get it over with."

Dr. Marc Itskowitz, an internal medicine physician with the Allegheny Health Network, advises against having any kind of Omicron party.

"Number one, severity of the illness can be mild in some people, but in other people it can be more severe. Even if you're not hospitalized, you can have a miserable week at home with a very severe sore throat, headache and fever. Really, not a type of week that anyone would want."

Dr. Itskowitz told the KDKA Radio Morning Show that you could also spread the virus to vulnerable people.

The possibility exists that you could add crisis to the healthcare system. If anyone gets sick now, you may not have access to treatments that are still in short supply.
