A Florida bride and groom wound up being the wedding crashers at their own ceremony.
This past Saturday, the friends and family of Courtney Wilson and Shenita Jones gathered at a beautiful Fort Lauderdale estate to tie the knot.
The 16,313-square-foot home boasts nine bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a bowling alley, a theater, and an 800-square-foot bar. An amazing location for the couple's glorious nuptials.
The only problem was that the mansion didn't belong to them, nor did they have permission to use it, reported NBC News.
Wilson had toured the home weeks earlier, posing as a potential buyer. Owner Nathan Finkel had been trying to sell the property for two years for $5.7 million.
Wilson had no interest in buying the home, but asked if he could use it for his upcoming wedding. Finkel told him "no," but that didn't stop Wilson and Jones from planning the ceremony there, and mailing out invitations requesting guests join them at the palatial estate.
Finkel actually lives on the property and called the police after noticing all the strangers arriving on the day of the wedding. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Finkel told the authorities, "I have people trespassing on my property . . . they say they're having a wedding here and it's God's message."
“The guy figured it was a vacant house and didn’t realize Nathan lived on the property in a different home,” said Keith Poliakoff, an attorney for the upscale development where Finkel lives.
“This guy had no idea he lived there. You know the shock that must have been on his face when he showed up at the gate and the owner was home?”
The police arrived and cleared out the ceremony. No charges were filed.
