Heinz History Center acquires eighth property in Strip District

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) The Sen. John Heinz History Center has acquired another property in its bid to expand in the Strip District.

According to the Post-Gazette, the history center recently paid $200,000 for a four-story building on Penn Avenue. that once housed a restaurant.

The property is located directly behind the history center on Smallman Street.

Brady Smith tells KDKA Radio that the Plans the building are tentative right now and will first be used for storage in the immediate future.

“Eventually, expansion plans could include gallery space, classrooms, and an orientation theater,” said Smith.

This is the eighth property the history center has purchased in recent years.
