The suspect's name has not been released, but police announced his arrest by Zone 6 plainclothes officers Tuesday.

Police say he is one of three people who attacked the driver on January 3, stealing his possessions, beating him and shoving him in his trunk.

Judge Gene Ricciardi tells the Big K Morning Show that action needs to be taken.

“Every time a juvenile is involved in any type of incident, we should immediately sent children, youth and family services and resolve to the family.”

“Can you imagine if this was happening gin Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Fox Chapel, Sewickley,” added Ricciardi. “Can you imagine the resources that we would put into our families, our children to see what’s going on, the resources we would put into law enforcement.”

Police say the suspects abandoned the car after driving a short distance.

The victim escaped through the backseat. He's is recovering.

Authorities don’t have the option to send juvenile offenders to a detention center since Shuman closed in 2021.
