Another gun has been stopped by Transportation Security Administration officers by Pittsburgh International.

This past Friday, a man from McDonald, PA was stopped with a loaded .380 caliber handgun in his carry-on back.

Police confiscated the gun.

That marks 39 guns stopped so far by TSA this year. The previous record was set in 2019 when 35 guns were stopped.

“The number of travelers who continue to bring guns to our checkpoints is alarming and disturbing,” said Karen Keys-Turner, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport. “Our officers are stopping nearly four guns per month. Let me be very clear when I say that there is absolutely no excuse for bringing a gun to our checkpoints. Responsible gun owners know this.”

Passengers can travel with a gun but it needs to be declared and placed properly in a hard case, unloaded in a checked bag.
