There is a possibility that we could see a Fourth of July celebration in Downtown Pittsburgh this year.
At least that's what Mayor Bill Peduto hinted to reporters Thursday.
The mayor says he is talking with County Executive Rich Fitzgerald on how to safely host an Independence Day celebration downtown.
He believes the Fourth of July could be a huge step in getting back to normal.
"Making sure that the health and safety of the people is being done as the first thought and then being able to make it so that we have more opportunities to gather will help to lead until July. I think people will start feeling that comfort of coming back and being with other people in downtown Pittsburgh."
Fourth of July festivities usually brings tens of thousands of people to Point State Park. Nothing is official for this summer just yet.
