Allegheny County Health Department to start vaccinating people 65 and older in Monroeville

MONROEVILLE (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — The Allegheny County Health Department announced on Friday that people age 65 and older will start getting vaccinated at a pop-up Monroeville clinic on Monday, Jan. 25.

Eligible healthcare workers can also receive a vaccination at the "clinic."

Those returning for their second shot in the vaccination series are eligible, as well.

In addition, some people who meet certain health conditions can also get a vaccine if they fall within the 16-64 age group.

Registration is required for the vaccination, though.

Luckily, the Health Department has a day-by-day section to register on their website:

A "point of dispensing" will be opened in the DoubleTree Hotel in Monroeville to distribute the newest wave of Moderna vaccines.

This newest expansion of the vaccine rollout plan is still part of Phase 1A of the Pennsylvania Department of Health's larger interim program.

Vaccines are still extremely limited at this point, however.

The vaccine does not require insurance and will be of no cost to the individual.

An email is not required, either, but it is recommended so that each registrant receives updates.

Upon arrival to the point of dispensing, individuals will be asked to verify their age or provide their healthcare credentials.

It is important to note that those who do not meet the prerequisites or have the appropriate verification credentials will be turned away.
