A major Artificial Intelligence data center in New Kensington is now operational, just days after new state rules were announced.
TECfusions, an AI infrastructure company that develops and operates data centers, has brought its New Kensington facility online.
The Pittsburgh Business Times reports AI company TensorWave is the first customer, starting with ten megawatts of computing power.
The site could eventually reach three gigawatts and is likely the first Pennsylvania data center to come online since Governor Shapiro announced stricter standards last week.
The project is repurposing the former industrial campus rather than starting from scratch.
It’s currently powered by gas turbines, with plans for utility and on-site microgrid generation.
