Pittsburgh is opening its first ever alcohol-free bottle shop.

Pittsburgh Magazine's Director of Digital Media, Rich Cook, tells the NewsRadio KDKA morning show that The Open Road, located in Allentown, is the first retail business in Pittsburgh fully dedicated to selling non-alcoholic drinks.

"The store opened late, last month with a dizzying array of bottles that mimic traditional spirits such as wines, beers and all of it minus the booze."

Cook says the decision to move away from alcoholic beverages makes good economic sense. as it seems to be a growing trend.

According to Nielsen-IQ, sales of non-alcoholic drinks rose 33% in 2021, and low alcoholic spirit sales rose 8.8%.
