A mother in Aliquippa faces multiple charges after police say she threated to kill her young, disabled child on Monday.

Aliquippa Police say they received multiple calls that 42-year-old Valerie McDermott threated, on social media, to kill her 8-year-old son.

Officers reviewed the video and say it made “very specific” threats about killing the child.

Aliquippa, along with Hopewell Police, responded to McDermott’s residence and she refused to open a locked door.

She refused arrest and officers forced their way into the home. McDermott was taken into custody without incident and the child was turned over to his grandmother.

Police also discovered that the boy was living in “deplorable conditions” before being turned over to his grandmother.

McDermott was taken to the Beaver County Jail and faces a felony count of endangering the welfare of a child and two other misdemeanors.

Police also notified CYS.
