We have an update on when Allegheny County taxpayers can finally expect to receive their tax statements.

Allegheny County Council President Pat Catena says the latest word from the treasury's office is that the first batch of tax bills are physically going out from the North Side post office Thursday, so those should start hitting over the weekend.

From there, he says there'll be another batch going out every day.

Catena was asked by Marty Griffin on KDKA Radio if he was given any explanation for the delay.

“I know, originally there was a printing issue, is what I was originally told, but still that doesn’t justify that,” said Catena. “Best practice is to have them out 60 days ahead of time, that would be March 30 so we want to give people basically, get them out the last week of January, I would say.”

He says hopefully everyone should have tax bills in hand by the end of next Friday.

It’s the second straight year that the tax statements have gone out late.
