Hospitality businesses in Allegheny County can apply for much needed help

There's an opportunity for help available to Allegheny County hospitality businesses in need of a boost.

The County announced Monday that applications for CHIRP - the state's grant program for the hospitality industry - will open at noon on Monday, March 15.

Grants will range anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000.

"The hospitality industry is that sector of our economy which has probably been hardest hit by the pandemic," said County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

"Thanks to the efforts by the state legislature to provide this funding, we will be able to provide financial grants to small businesses in the county with operations most impacted by COVID-19. With the application period opening next week, we encourage business owners who are eligible to spend this time gathering the necessary information and documentation to submit their application."

The County suggests interested businesses look into if they're eligible before applications open.

More information on the program is available at alleghenycounty.us/CHIRP.

Hospitality business owners in other counties should check with their own county for more information.
