A guard at the Allegheny County Jail is facing up to a decade in prison after being indicted in federal court on a firearms violation.
An unregistered gun was allegedly found in 32-year-old Lewis Bagnato's possession on May 20.
Acting U.S. Attorney Stephen Kaufman said that according to the indictment, Allegheny County Police found the gun when they were executing a search warrant.
Bagnato was arrested in May for allegedly selling drugs to inmates at the jail.
If convicted, Bagnato could be sentenced to 10 years in prison, fine $250,000 or both.
