Allegheny County nearly done counting provisional ballots

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — It's been well over a week since Election Day, but the vote-counting process is still underway in Allegheny County.

It might have slowed to a snail's pace, but the last of the provisional ballots in Allegheny are finally being reviewed.

Of course, once there are no more provisional ballots to review, then the Elections Division can get down to actually counting the eligible ballots.

The next step in the pipeline will involve tallying those provisional ballots that had no challenges and also checking ones from Wednesday's review.

Provisional ballots that present some sort of challenge will be flagged and set aside.

Challenges for flagged provisional ballots are logged and will be expounded in a future update.

In other election news, more overseas and military ballots have been tallied for the county.

In the Division's newest check-in, 2,216 votes were added to the county total, which is now at 719,949.

Of the 2,216 ballots that were counted on Thursday evening, 1,301 of them went toward Joe Biden, and 863 went to Donald Trump.

Incoming votes have slowed to a trickle, but projected President-elect Joe Biden has built a 55,000 vote, nearly one-point lead over incumbent Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, according to AP.
