If you're looking to beat the heat today, one set of options is off the table.
The wave pools at Settlers Cabin, South Park, Boyce Park, and North Park will all be closed today due to staffing issues.
Two other pools in the County had to close some areas over the weekend as well because they don't have enough workers.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald says that a lack of lifeguards, employees taking vacation, and trying to rearrange shifts to ensure that all the pools can be open for the 4th of July weekend are all factors.
"I'm following the advice of our Park Department and we're gonna do everything we can to keep things as open as much as we can, but we gotta deal with reality as well," Fitzgerald told NewsRadio KDKA's Marty Griffin.
The high temperature on Monday is expected to be 93 degrees, with a RealFeel of 103, according to AccuWeather.
Fitzgerald said the staffing shortages and the upcoming Independence Day holiday are creating a scheduling dilemma.
He says the county is looking to fill their ranks and is holding classes to train lifeguards, "but obviously you can't flip a switch and it takes a few weeks to get certified."
Once certified, jobs pay between $14 and $16 per hour plus incentives.
