In the last 24 hours, there have been 55 new COVID-19 related deaths in Allegheny County according to the Health Department.
There have also been 850 new cases reported in the county, 606 of which are considered confirmed.
Since March, a total of 43,857 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Allegheny County and 2,709 people have been hospitalized with it. There have been 743 deaths.
The Health Department tweeted condolences to families of those who died, writing "The Health Department extends its condolences to the families and friends of these 55 mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, grandparents and cherished members of our community, and to everyone who has lost loved ones. Too many families will grieve a loss during these holidays."
