Amazon is reportedly canceling the plan to build a distribution center in Churchill.
According to the Post-Gazette, Amazon decided not to pursue the project. The facility was slated to be built at the former Westinghouse campus.
Many people from the community were opposed to the warehouse being brought in. They said pollution and land use would have a poor impact on the borough. Amazon, and members of the council, brought up job growth, increased tax revenue and the chance to renovate an abandoned building.
The proposal was approved in December by the Churchill Borough Council.
