Delmont Borough Police arrested an armed man Saturday at a Dairy Queen, claiming he wanted to “restore Trump to President King of the United States.”
According to police, a bystander called 9-1-1 to report an erratic driver who pulled into a Dairy Queen on State Route 66 in Delmont Borough. The caller then told dispatchers a man got out wearing a rainbow clown wig and yellow safety vest.
An officer was able to respond at the scene within 60 seconds of the 9-1-1 call. The man, later identified as 61-year-old Jan Stawovy, allegedly told officials on-scene he was undercover and was armed to “kill democrats and liberals,” as well as to protect himself from drug traffickers.
A search warrant was conducted on the vehicle where police found two more loaded handguns.
In a Facebook post, Delmont chief Timothy Klobucar commended the arresting officer, saying he "was able to prevent the possibility of a mass casualty event."
"I am grateful for [Officer] Stull's fast response and actions to this incident that had the potential to end very differently," the chief wrote.
The office was recognized by Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli Tuesday night at Delmont's borough council meeting.
Stawovy is facing charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and more.
