It happened in Westmoreland County

Tuesday headlines for Pittsburgh

The PA Game Commission is asking for information after a bald eagle was found killed in Westmoreland County late last month.

It happened along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail, near Beaver Run Reservoir in Salem Township last Tuesday, August 25.

A PA game warden responded to the scene after reports of an injured juvenile bald eagle lying in the woods near the trail.

The eagle died before he could be taken to an animal hospital.

The warden found “what appeared to be a pellet from an air rifle lodged in the wing of the eagle.”

The Game Commission says the wound was infected, meaning the eagle was probably shot a week or so before it died.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 1-833-PGC-HUNT.
