PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Wednesday afternoon, Pittsburgh Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 100 block of Climax Street in Beltzhoover.
There were reports of multiple shots being fired just before 5:15 p.m.
Around the same time, Violent Crime Unit detectives who were working in the area saw a vehicle they believed was transporting the victim to the hospital.
Authorities gave the vehicle an escort to the hospital.
The victim was transporting himself to the hospital after suffering a critical gunshot wound; The male victim would later die from the wound in the hospital.
Officers from Zone 3 at the crime scene found shell casings and Crime Scene Unit detectives began processing evidence.
