Police arrested an employee of the Bethel Park School District on Monday.

The arrest of 43-year-ol Bernard Switala was made on a warrant from the Allegheny County Police.

During the arrest at the high school, Bethel Park Police found that Switala had two handguns on school property.

Bethel Park PD is charging him with two counts of Possession of Weapon on School Property.

The school district released a statement Monday afternoon saying "Today, the Bethel Park Police Department arrested a school district employee at Bethel Park High School for an incident that occurred prior to today, outside of the school setting. During the arrest, the employee disclosed that he had a weapon in his possession and in his vehicle, which is a violation of Pennsylvania state law. As such, the employee was immediately removed from campus. As this is a police matter, we would defer all questions to the Bethel Park Police Department."

Allegheny County Police say the warrant was issued for Switala after he was identified as the person they believe threatened a couple of motorcyclists on Wednesday, April 28 along Corrigan Drive.

The motorcyclists told police that Switala was driving erratically and say he was texting while driving. One of the motorcyclists said he told Switala to stop texting while driving. After that, Switala allegedly began aggressively tailgating the motorcycle and followed it into a parking lot. That's where police say he pulled a gun on the motorcyclists and allegedly threatened to kill both motorcyclists.

In addition to the charges added by Bethel Park Police, Switala faces charges of two counts each of recklessly endangering another person, simple assault by physical menace & terroristic threats.
