With Easter weekend upon us, many of the churches in the Pittsburgh area that were closed last year due to the pandemic will be open for services this year.

"For those who are able to come back, I want to simply say, 'We missed you'.'

That's what Bishop David Zubik told the Newsradio KDKA morning show today. He says that while there are capacity limits, they have been trying to do everything they can to keep people healthy.

"You know, for those who still do not feel safe, and I want to say that we've provided safe environments for people, you know, the continuation of social distancing and masks and sanitization after every service, for those people who don't feel comfortable to do that, they could still join online".

Bishop Zubik says that people are returning to mass in big numbers.

"I'm also grateful that we've been able to open up our churches to 75% capacity, and I can say that from the services that I celebrated this week, there is a dramatic increase in the number of people who are coming".

Zubik says many Catholic parishes are offering online reservations to avoid any issues.
