PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Volunteers have been at work inside a Pittsburgh warehouse to get life-saving supplies to the disaster zone in Haiti.
What's needed most - medicines and orthopedics to treat the injured. Liam Carstens, Vice President of Programs at Brother’s Brother, tells Larry and Kevin on the KDKA Radio Morning Show what they're hearing from their partners on the ground in Haiti.
"The immediate need for medicine, as well as for orthopedic supports for injuries. The weather and rain from the tropical storms is really adding to and complicating the efforts - because the recovery efforts are still ongoing," Carstens said.
Since thousands are homeless after the earthquake, Brother’s Brother is asking for financial contributions, as well as new large tents and shelters. If you're interested in helping, find more information on the Brother’s Brother website.
