A couple from Pittsburgh celebrated the opening of the first Ohio Buc-ee’s location by getting engaged.
Cherlyn Beatty tells KDKA Radio she met Jason Schmitt at Hundred Acres Manor, with both working for the haunted house for nearly a decade.
During Covid, with no where to really hang out, the two would go to Sheetz after work.
She says a Sheetz location was where they finally expressed their feelings for each other.
Cherlyn says she grew up taking road trips with her dad and fell in love with the traveling around in a car.
With her current job, they get to spend a lot of time together in the car.
“We like to drive around together and visit and explore the neighborhoods our routes take us to after shifts. Like, last weekend, we drove through Greensburg and looked at all the historical houses,” said Cherlyn.
She says they got into the convenience giant Buc-ee’s after driving to the Puppetry Arts center in Georgia.
One the way back they stopped at every Buc-ee’s along the way and this past weekend, took the nearly four-hour trip to Huber Heights near Dayton.
While in the store, Michael got down on one knee and proposed.
Cherlyn said yes and they expect to tie the knot in September 2027.
