UPDATE: Order was lifted on March 13 by the health department.
A café and events center in Carnegie has been ordered closed after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.
Inspectors say Café Delhi and Karma Banquet/Event Center on Mary Street was shut down after 16 total violations, including two considered “high-risk” were reported.
The high-risk violations include a rodent dropping found “inside a loosely covered container of red lentils.”
That container was thrown away during the inspection on March 5
Also, food, including chicken, was found in a small prep cooler measured at 48 degrees. Food is safely held at 41 degrees or lower.
An “imminent hazard” of failed sewage lines around the facility was found with sludge and sewage found in some areas. The sewage backup is the main reason for the ordered closure.
Additional rodent droppings and dead roaches were also found in various areas of the location.
Café Delhi offers various Indian foods.
