Central Catholic suspends lacrosse program after positive COVID case

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh announced Thursday that lacrosse games for Oakland's Central Catholic High School have been temporarily suspended following a positive COVID-19 case.

Those affiliated students will be moving to virtual learning through April 29.

The individual with the positive case was only described as being "associated with the team."

Families have already been notified of the temporary changes.

"Each day, we reiterate the importance of proper mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper handwashing to our students," said Brother Tony Baginski, principal. "As we continually tell our students, everything that we do outside of Central Catholic has an effect on Central, and we must all play a part in ensuring the health and safety of our community."
