Clairton Police make arrest in homicide case

CLAIRTON (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — On Jan. 21, Clairton Police and EMS personnel were called to the 400 block of Mendelssohn Avenue.

At the scene, officers found a 55-year-old male that had been stabbed multiple times.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Shortly after, detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit opened an investigation to find answers.

Through that investigation, detectives unveiled that an at-home struggle had led to the homicide.

Detectives also discovered that the male victim's car had been stolen by 21-year-old Sabr Cree Ellis, who had been living with the victim.

An arrest warrant was quickly issued for Ellis, and he was apprehended in Rochester, New York.

Ellis is being charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking and Receiving Stolen Property for jacking the vehicle and Criminal Homicide of Anthony Koontz.

On Jan. 22, Ellis was returned to Allegheny County to await extradition.
