Police receive complaints of motorcycles, ATVS, dirt bikes riding in large groups around Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) – Pittsburgh Police said they were monitoring numerous complaints about motorcycles, ATVS, and dirt bikes riding around Pittsburgh over Memorial Day.

Police said there were groups of 200-300 people riding on the vehicles, many of them illegal vehicles, and that they were driving dangerously throughout the city, including running traffic lights and stop signs.

Zone 4 police initiated a traffic stop for an illegal ATV around 4 p.m., resulting in dozens of riders fleeing the area around Fifth Avenue and Frankstown.

A female driver of an ATV received seven citations.

The Pittsburgh Police created an e-mail address for reporting illegal, off-road vehicles in the city. The address is 412_TIPS@pittsburghpa.gov.
