You could soon see your neighbor's name among the credits in the next Hollywood movie filmed in Pittsburgh.

Construction is set to begin soon on Pittsburgh's first film sound stage and production facility.

Dawn Keezer, the Director of the Pittsburgh Film Office, says two 60-thousand-square-foot buildings with six soundstages will built on the historic Carrie Blast Furnaces site in Rankin.

"We need stuff that's actually going to be able to meet the needs of today's filming technology because it keeps getting more technical with all the needs of special effects, LEDs, and all those really cool things.
We have to have a place to put those and we're excited to be able to do that down in Rankin," explained Keezer.

That also means plenty of new jobs will be available. Keezer says they're doing workforce training and wants to make the Pittsburgh region an even better viable economic sector than it is right now.

Some big projects are already happening in the area with American Rust season 2 filming and Mayor of Kingstown expected to return to film season 3.

She tells the Big K Morning Show that crews are expected to break ground on the new facility in the next two to three months.
