A restaurant in the Pittsburgh has been hit with a Consumer Alert after an inspection on Thursday following a complaint.
The Allegheny County Health Department says the Saga Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar at Mall Circle Driver in Monroeville was hit with five total violations, one considered high-risk.
According to the inspection report At least 15 live cockroaches “under bar mesh that is lining shelf for the printer behind the sushi bar” and behind a hand sink.
Multiple dead roaches were seen in the kitchen and under hibachi grills and multiple dead flies were found on sticky fly traps above a food prep/handling area.
The inspection also says that “all areas of the facility are in dire need of deep cleaning.”
Inspectors say a follow-up inspection is scheduled for September 28.
For the alert to be lifted a more adequate pest control plan has to be put in place and a cleaning plan needs to be formed and implemented.
