Pittsburgh City Council members are calling on the state Health Department to add restaurant, service and hospitality workers to the prioritized group that's receiving the covid-19 vaccines.
Under new rules from the governor's office, after Easter Sunday, restaurant workers are going to be about 75% capacity.
Councilman Corey O'Connor tells Lynn Hayes-Freeland on News Radio KDKA they considered the safety of restaurant workers at today's council meeting.
"Our thought was, you know, don't move anybody out of 1A," he says, "but you know, now that there's going to be openings, those individuals are going to be coming in contact with a lot more residents, so that's the reason to request that the governor looks into it and makes that change".
No decision has been made just yet. O'Connor expects an answer from the governor's office in the next three weeks.
