Allegheny County is looking for solutions after their juvenile detention facility over a year ago.

Since the state ordered the county to close Shuman Juvenile Detention Center, some have questioned the impact it’s had on increasing crime among young people.
With few places to put juvenile offenders, they're mostly winding up back on the street with few ramifications.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald told the Big K Morning Show, the ball is rolling on finding a new owner.
“The county manager has put up a request for proposal to sell the building and we’ll sell the building to someone who wants to open up a juvenile detention center,” said Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald adds they’ll sell the property to the commonwealth for $1 if they will take it and run the facility.
He said there are also talks of a regional detention center - as other counties in the state deal with similar issues.
Before his retirement earlier this year, former Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert called the situation frustrating - saying young people arrested are often released, simply because there is no place to put them.
