The Problem
The East Allegheny Meals On Wheels program is finally back to delivering life-saving meals to seniors five days a week across the area, but that doesn't mean volunteers can get to everyone who needs their help. That's why the program reached out to Get Marty for one man in particular. Watch the video on this page to see the crumbling conditions that need our help.

They're preventing volunteers, who are usually older themselves, from getting to John Burek's front door safely. If they can't get to John, he doesn't get to eat or has to find another way to get food delivered. He has a hard time getting around himself.

The Solution
We've already started the process of getting a big contractor involved who may be able to help fix John's situation. Stay with us for updates. While we're working on John's situation, you can get involved by reaching out to the Meals On Wheels program.
What Can You Do?
Volunteer: Even before the pandemic started last year, the Meals On Wheels program has been serving our most vulnerable, primarily older folks who need food. Some simply aren't able to make their meals anymore or get out for food. Others can't afford to feed themselves. Over the last year they had to cut back service to three days a week because of a lack of volunteers. Numbers dropped, primarily because of coronavirus concerns. Now they're back to five-day service but are in need of more volunteers. They need people who can deliver meals and people who can prepare meals.
