A plaque in a public defender's office is sparking new debate in the race for Allegheny County District Attorney.
Incumbent Democrat-turned-Republican Steven Zappala issued a statement saying the buck stops with his challenger Democrat Matt Dugan where the said the public defender's office had a radical anti-police culture.
KDKA Radio's Marty Griffin posted a picture of the plaque on social media that features a plaque that says “F**k the Police.”
On the Big K Morning Show Dugan says he acted to have it removed.
“It was in the private, closed-door office of one of our attorney’s and when I found out about it I told her that she should take that down and she did,” said Dugan.
Dugan said it would be a different story if the plaque had been in his office.
“When Matt Dugan was the chief public defender in Allegheny County, he allowed this despicable sign to be displayed in the public defender’s office,” Zappala said in a campaign statement. “The buck stops with Dugan and the radical anti-police culture that he allowed to fester within the public defender’s office.”
