Downtown streets to be closed for cooling tower installation on Saturday

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — To help expedite installing a cooling tower on Saturday, Feb. 6, some Downtown areas will be closed down.

The crews will be working on completing the installation on EQT Place and One PPG Place roofs.

Penn Avenue will be the first street to be temporarily closed down.

It will only be shut down between 6th and 9th Streets, however.

Liberty Avenue will be closed between 6th and 9th Streets, too.

7th Street will be closed between Liberty Avenue and Fort Duquesne Boulevard.

Then the Boulevard of the Allies will be impassable from Stanwix to Wood Street.

3rd Avenue will be partially shut down from Stanwix to Wood Street, as well.

And finally, 4th Avenue will be also cut off between Stanwix and Wood Streets.

All closures will kick off at 7 a.m., with scheduled reopenings at 11 a.m.

If there is uncooperative weather, the project will be pushed to Sunday, Feb. 7.

Some Port Authority routes will be diverted off their usual course.
