The driver injured Sunday at Lernerville Speedway has died.

The car driven by Shane Nolan in the Enduro 100-lap race collided with a wall, flipped and landed on its roof. It was the final event of the year at Lernerville.

The Chicora man was flown to UPMC Presbyterian but efforts to save his life were not successful.

In a post on Facebook, Lernerville posted, “Lernerville Speedway and the Tomson family are deeply saddened by the passing of Shane Nolan, a cherished member of our racing community. We ask that everyone honor him and his family by respecting their wish for privacy at this time.”

The family has requested that any photos of the incident be removed from social media.
