
UPDATE: The man accused of shooting a Duquesne police officer in the foot early this morning has been identified. Allegheny County Police says 28-year-old Shyheim Cortez Berry of Duquesne is in custody. Berry is charged with Criminal homicide of a law enforcement officer and other charges. He is currently hospitalized under police guard until he is transported to Allegheny County Jail for arraignment.
A Duquesne police officer was shot in the foot overnight while responding to a call.
Allegheny County Police say it happened at the intersection of Catherine St. and Savey St. just after midnight.
The officer was responding to a call for shots fired. When the officer arrived, they were "immediately met by gunfire," according to investigators.
The officer was shot in the foot and returned gunfire, hitting the suspect in the leg.
Both the officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital in stable condition. The suspect was taken into custody.
