Residents across the Pittsburgh area woke up to a layer of dust on their vehicles over the weekend.

Cars all over the Pittsburgh area were left filthy!

On the Big K Morning Show, National Weather Service Meteorologist Jason Frazier said he thinks it was suspended in clouds from dust storms in the desert southwest.

“Eventually when we participated with the snow, those dust particles were combined with the water that was in the air to fall down to the surface,” said Frazier. “So, it left things looking kind of looking . . . almost as if it was pollen on our cars.”

While it is not unusual for dust to travel cross country, it is usually not noticed because it falls along with rain, which washes it away.

But, because it came down with snow, it was quite noticeable.
