PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Ever since taking the office in January, Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey has sworn to stop the increase in violence around the city.
One of the hot spots for violence week after week is Pittsburgh's South Side.
Mayor Gainey announced that he would go down to the South Side, during the late night/early morning hours to see the scenes with his own eyes.
Friday night, Gainey walked the streets of the South Side talking to residents, business owners, and police officers in the area.
In a tweet, Gainey said that it was important for him to see what is happening on E. Carson Street to better layout his plan for peace.
Gainey walked the streets with Chief of Staff Jake Wheatley Jr., Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Lee Schmidt, and Councilor Bruce Kraus.
