Police have charged 32-year-old Elijah Hemingway of Pittsburgh in the fatal stabbing of a UPMC doctor overnight.
According to court documents, Hemingway was free on a non-monetary bond after he was arrested in July for a previous burglary that took place in February.
In that case, Hemingway faces two felonies of burglary and theft by unlawful taking.
Hemingway is accused of killing Dr. Idris Evans and leaving another woman in critical condition after he reportedly went inside a home on the 100 block of Linden Avenue just after 12:30 Thursday morning.
Hemingway reportedly attacked the victims while they were sleeping.
Hemingway was found behind a nearby home with lacerations to his hand and taken into custody
He is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and criminal trespass.
