End of September full of environmental events provided by PRC

Pennsylvania Resources Council, PRC, is hosting environmental workshops and webinars at the end of September for southwestern PA residents.

The webinars will serve as an educational tool for residents to use learn about the principles of backyard composting and recycling a wide variety of different materials.

There will also be a person workshop for residents to attend to about watershed awareness.

All webinars will take place from 6:30-7:30p.m. and participants will be able to pick up compost bins following instruction.

The Recycling and Waste Reduction webinar is set to take place on Tuesday, September 20th and will be a free to all.

It will focus on learning the best recycling practices concerning curbside collection, hard-to-recycle material, household chemicals and pharmaceutical disposal then ask questions during Q&A session.

The Backyard Composting webinar will take place on Tuesday, September 27th and cost $70 for the course with the compost bin included.

It will walk through learning the benefits of backyard composting, including the overall process, methods for setting up a compost pile, proper maintenance and ways to use finished compost.

A Watershed Awareness and Rain Barrell in-person workshop will be the following day, Wednesday September 28th, the same times as the webinars, 6:30-7:30p.m.

Participants will discover how to harvest rainwater from your roof, store it in a barrel and use it in the landscape. Learn about stormwater runoff problems and learn techniques to reduce watershed pollution.

The event will take place at Phipps Garden Center, 1059 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15232 and will be a $80 course fee and includes 55-gallon rain barrel.
