It can be one of the happiest times in a young couple's lifetime, preparing for the arrival of their first child, but you're about to meet one family that got a gut punch at the same time. They learned the new dad was about to begin his fight with cancer.

As they were preparing for little Maverick's birth, everything was seemingly on track with one exception. Jesse didn't think much about it but he had a nagging cough and a fever that would come and go. Like many men do, he ignored it at first and just put it on the backburner. After all, his lovely wife Olivia was his bigger concern and she was about to give birth.
Jesse will tell you, it's a good thing she didn't let it go. Olivia actually made him go to the doctor to get checked out. Maybe it's that "mom instinct" kicking in, but she knew something wasn't right.
Then came the news neither one of them expected. Jesse has cancer and it's Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma. Doctors are very hopeful with his treatment and expect nothing but good things, but of course that has also given them a huge hit to the family finances.
