Winter weather is making its seasonal debut in the Pittsburgh-area Thursday and Friday, but most areas won't have much accumulation.
AccuWeather on upcoming winter weather
AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg says for the Pittsburgh area, the recent warm weather will offset the risk of anything significant Thursday that will most likely stay as rain.
"Anything that comes down hard would go over to snow, if it's light, it's probably rain, but I think the atmosphere will cool in the heart of any one of these so there could be brief reductions of visibility," Lundberg told The Big K Morning Show.
A system may try to move into the region tomorrow morning which could bring a dusting that may stick on secondary roadways, but for the most part, it will just be rain.
Any significant snowfall would be more a threat to the Laurel Highlands with several inches possible.
Another front is expected to come through on Friday morning, that could cause some snow to stick on grassy surfaces and on secondary roads.
Less than an inch of snow is forecast for Pittsburgh with higher totals into eastern Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.
As for next week, the weather leading up to Thanksgiving will be "active" and into end of November into December, Lundberg says there will be cold air around and the opportunity for some more snow.
