Phones were already ringing off the hook at McCandless Floral Thursday afternoon ahead of the Valentine's Day rush.
Owner Janet Woloszyk says she is well-stocked for the weekend, but that won't be the case everywhere. She suggests placing a call ahead of time, sooner rather than later.
"Usually if you order 3-to-4 weeks in advance, you're okay. Just because of anticipation and shortages everywhere, I'd place my orders much earlier."
The floral industry is grappling with supply shortages and increased prices on glass and stems. That may not be much clearer than this weekend - with Valentine's Day just around the bend.
She suggests ordering your Valentines flowers in advance from local stores and don't wait until the last minute on Valentine's Day Monday.
Woloszyk also said costs are rising across the industry, including glass, stems and even delivery fees.
