The former head of the local Steelworkers Union pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday for embezzling $10,000.
Michael Evanovich was the President of United Steelworkers Local Union 1219 for two years from 2021 through 2023.
It was during that time that he made personal purchases for more than $10,000 with a union credit card meant for official union business.
Federal authorities said an audit showed Evanovich used the union credit card for personal use at least 100 times.
He has been sentenced to two years of probation plus a $5,000 fine.
He was also ordered to pay back the $10,000.
