A fugitive on the run for nearly a year and a half was taken into custody on Thursday morning.

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Khalil Taylor had been able to avoid authorities since May 2023 when bench warrants on probations violations were issued for two different cases.

One was an escape charge, the other a firearms violation.

Detectives add Taylor also has two other warrants out for his arrest, terroristic threats in Pittsburgh and a simple assault in Pitcairn.

Police learned earlier this week that Taylor was inside a residence on Heart Court in Homewood.

Detectives took Taylor into custody just before 8 a.m. without incident.

After Taylor was arrested, detectives found hallucinogenic mushrooms and a Glock handgun inside the residence.

Taylor was taken to the Allegheny County jail, now facing new firearms and possession counts.
