Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey has made his pick for Public Safety Director.
Lee Schmidt received the nomination.
He previously served as the Assistant Director of Operations and Administration for the Public Safety Department. Schmidt is slated to replace Wendell Hissrich, who was let go when the Gainey administration took office.
"Lee Schmidt brings a tremendous range of experience across decades of public service, as well as deep commitment to creating greater safety, accountability and equity to our Department of Public Safety," said Mayor Gainey.
Schmidt started his public safety career with West Deer EMS in 1996 as a volunteer in EMT.
