Every week, I deliver an editorial message addressing issues of importance to the community, but this one is different, it’s personal.
It is a tribute to one of the greatest men I have known: Gary Kenneth Bowser.
An icon in the automotive business, Gary died last weekend at the age of 81.
He founded Bowser Automotive in 1983 and the wildly successful business grew to employ over 450 people and become one of the largest and most well-respected auto groups in the Pittsburgh area.
Besides building a business from the ground up, Gary Bowser was an incredible family man who married his high school sweetheart, Barb.
He lived a life of community service, especially in support of the Stanley M. Marks Blood Cancer Research Fund.
Personally, Mr. B. treated my wife and kids like his own family at every turn and every moment of our lives. We will miss him more than words can ever express.
Pittsburgh has lost a once in a lifetime guy who will never be forgotten.
And so, to his family: Barb, Gary Jr., Kurt and all his grandchildren we send our love and thanks for sharing him with us.
