This past week, gas prices in Western Pennsylvania fell five cents, according to the new AAA East Central Gas Price Report.
It sits at an average of $3.684 which is a whole sixty cents lower than this same time last year; prices still remain at $3.716 in Pittsburgh.
The price is a whole eighty cents lower than last year for a national gas average, which is now $3.43.
Even though the demand for gasoline has gone up due to the incoming warmer spring weather, the price has stayed relatively the same.
An increasing demand usually would see prices rise, but low oil prices have pushed prices down instead.
The reason why global oil prices are staying the same, around $70 a barrel, is due to the fear of a recession looming.
